I have recently discovered that my reading comprehension accuracy is pathetic... I mean on tough passages, I can go wrong upto 60%! Isn't that unbelievable... All this time, we all think that our reading is good and it's better than our speaking sometimes... However that is not true. We learn to read very early, but never try to improve our reading accuracy and efficiency. on GMAT land, you are tested every bit and piece for it.
I went to http://www.readingsoft.com/ to test my skills and I found that I was an average reader, just a little more than a completely hopeless reader. My reading speed was 253WPM and my comprehension accuracy was about 65%. I think I need a lot of improvement from here. I am going to do the following things for this matter.
1) Start reading articles from nytimes, forbes, businessweek, WSJ, etc.
2) Start learning strategies of fast reading and try and get my accuracy of RC up.
3) Hopefully these things will translate into better results.
I don't know where I am heading, but I get a good feeling that I am working on my core weaknesses, and not like my last 2 times on the GMAT, where once I was half prepared, and other I was down with an infection, this time I will go on my G-day only if I am confident enough. And I know I will be.
Shall keep you all posted about ISB information session.
Peace...,
Abhinandan.
